Synopsis:
What’s the worst thing that can happen to a werewolf? Unable to shift for three months, Mateo Cruz knows all too well. His wolf has taken up residence in his head, taunting him night and day with vividly violent and carnal thoughts. Convinced he’s cursed, he needs the help of a powerful witch before he literally goes insane.
Evie Savoie has always obeyed the house rules of her coven–no werewolves. They’re known for being moody and volatile. So, when a distempered, dangerous werewolf strolls into the bar and almost strangles one of her late-night customers, she’s ready to bounce him through the door. But the desperation in his eyes when he begs her to help him softens her heart and convinces her to bend the rules.
What Evie doesn’t know is that Mateo’s wolf has a mind of his own. And now that she’s in his sights, he wants only one thing. Her.

My Thoughts
This gorgeous cover lured me in, and the premise sounded like it was up my alley! Unfortunately, it was just an “OK” read for me.
I thoroughly enjoyed Evie and her sisters. They’re all dynamic and have their part to play in the story, but I connected with Evie, considering she is a fellow nerd and I SO enjoyed watching that nerd flag fly! With Mateo, I felt they had chemistry, and was all for them exploring it-whether it was forbidden or not.
I enjoyed Mateo, he’s an artist, and an interesting character too. His counterpart, Alpha, was not amongst my favorites. I felt his presence distracted from what should have been the actual story. Somehow, to me, it came across as muddled. I wanted this to be a PNR with a hint of mystery which is what I *thought* it was but Alpha brought a comedy to it which I’m sure many people love, but I didn’t.
Definitely read this if you love quirky/hot rom-coms!
Maybe not read this if you’re looking for a PNR Mystery! 😉 |
